Official reset rule
Some skill resets are free
In a watersealed base or social hub, skill reattribution starts at 0 Spice Melange. Repeated resets use 5, 10, 20 and 50 tiers; the price falls one tier every six hours. Read the confirmation price.
Equipment replacements and specialization purchases are separate costs.
Changes save with this playthrough and travel in its progress backup.
Choose a survival & training planSuggested plan: Expedition engineer: Trooper and Planetologist
Find a style that fits your priorities
Your starting school gives an opening route, then trainers let you learn other schools and combine a limited equipped kit. Choose single-player or a multiplayer environment separately; these plans prioritize sustainable PvE progression and do not claim a current universal PvP winner.
Reorder the comparison without changing your game settings or story preferences.
Mobility, gathering and a repeatable supply loop
Expedition engineer: Trooper and Planetologist
Build a reliable outward trip and return before investing heavily in combat luxuries. Trooper movement gives a practical opening while Planetologist training develops resource and travel utility. You keep a serviceable gun and blade, but judge success by materials safely delivered home. This guide recommends this starting route for learning the map and funding later specialization.
Learning curveApproachable
The basic loop is clear, but water, power, vehicle fuel and repair supplies must be managed together.
Choose this when you wantSolo PvE learning and steady resource delivery · Exploration without repeated vehicle losses · Funding a later combat loadout
Reconsider if: You want maximum arena burst immediately; You dislike crafting and supply planning.
What you actually do
A practical rhythm, from preparation to payoff.
1
Pack a defined trip
Choose one resource target and a return destination, then inspect water, fuel, tool condition and spare power before leaving; reserve enough space for the intended load.
2
Return and reinvest
Deposit the haul before adding optional encounters, repair the kit, and upgrade the bottleneck exposed by that trip; gathering yield has little value if transport cannot bring it home.
Illustrative play example
An illustrative gathering circuit
Suppose a new ore deposit lies beyond your familiar route. Pack water, fuel and a usable Cutteray, travel to the deposit with a marked retreat option, and gather only the load the vehicle can carry safely. An unexpected patrol makes you shorten the visit, not chase another cache. Return, bank the materials and repair before repeating. The example illustrates stable progression rather than a measured yield or a guarantee against server hazards.
FROM A REALISTIC START TO THE PAYOFF
Your progression path
Read in order. Each stage explains what makes the next step practical.
1Opening
Short Trooper expeditions with one combat answer
Take a usable movement tool and one maintainable firearm rather than scattering early points across complete schools. Keep a blade available for close or shielded threats. Build a small supply cache and learn two dependable return routes before increasing trip distance.
2First payoff
Learn Planetologist and establish a circuit
Follow the trainer and testing-station film objective, verifying the current quest marker. Increase the tool and transport capacity your chosen resource actually needs. Repeat one circuit until water use, fuel and repair costs are understood before collecting several unrelated resources.
3Mature
Specialize production and travel deliberately
Inspect the separate specialization panel once unlocked. Choose Gathering or Exploration for a group logistics role; solo dungeon ambitions also benefit from Combat and Crafting. Fund augmentation only after maintaining replacement gear, and confirm current single-player versus multiplayer reward settings.

Strengths, tradeoffs & requirements
Strengths
Useful before rare endgame weapons
Gathering income supports any later school mix
Mobility reduces avoidable exposure and travel waste
Tradeoffs
Utility points do not replace sufficient combat equipment
Vehicle and tool wear consume the materials you gather
A long overloaded trip can erase several profitable short trips
Plan around these requirements
Trooper opening or trainer access for desired movement
Planetologist trainer chain near Testing Station 2
Current-tier Cutteray, usable water kit and vehicle fuel
Safe storage, repairs and a reserved return budget
Preparation kit
The supporting roles that make this style work.
Stillsuit and portable water
Maintain travel stamina and a safe reserve.
Cutteray and power supply
Gather the selected resource without exhausting tool power mid-trip.
Vehicle fuel and repair support
Protect the return leg and expensive carried materials.
Gun plus blade
Provide complementary answers while utility receives much of the early investment.
CARRIED INTO YOUR WALKTHROUGH
What to prioritize
Place trainer access and sustainable transport before advanced combat farms
Track water, fuel and tool upgrades alongside story progression
Branch late guidance by game mode and specialization role
Can you change your mind? Other schools can be learned and equipped kits can change. Official Chapter 3 rules allow skill reattribution in a watersealed base or social hub: the first cost tier is 0 Spice Melange, repeated resets rise through 5, 10, 20 and 50, and the cost falls one tier every six hours. Check the displayed price. Changing game mode has separate character constraints.
Source-based strategy
Strong opening logistics recommendation, not maximum damage. Trainer reference has a beta caveat and September balance limits older numerical advice.

Reviewed plans and corrections
Expedition engineer — Trooper + Planetologist · Retained. Valid exploration/economy concept using movement and Planetologist progression. Sentinel is an early/midgame utility bridge, not a proven endgame damage carry.
Precision rifle — Mentat + Trooper · Retained. Current Marksman is an equipped headshot technique. The guide correctly avoids pairing headshot expectations with Attractor's center-mass redirection. Three-ability bar remains gated by the fourth Aql trial.
Blade adept — Swordmaster + Bene Gesserit · Retained. Swordmaster/Bene Gesserit control-melee concept remains mechanically supported. Prescience is genuinely required for Precise Parry, and the guide preserves that dependency.
Advanced hybrid — Trooper, Swordmaster and Bene Gesserit · Updated. Attractor supports center-mass ranged pressure, but the profile routes its unlock to the wrong school. Correct Mentat to Trooper; retain the hybrid.
Outdated or unsupported advice excluded
Attractor Field belongs to Trooper, not Mentat. Its center-mass redirection is not a headshot multiplier.
Public Test Client 1.5.15.0 is not the live-game baseline.

Progression plan
Expedition engineer — Trooper + Planetologist
A practical solo-friendly economy and travel plan: early mobility, a strong gathering loop and enough ranged control to return with the materials. This is the default recommendation for learning Arrakis, not a maximum-damage ranking.
Start with this setup
Start Trooper for the Shigawire Claw route. Learn Planetologist at Testing Station 2, then Mentat at Riftwatch.
Spend combat points narrowly: one reliable gun, one shielded-enemy blade answer and movement. Invest gathering points where repeated trips demonstrate a real bottleneck.
Keep a Stillsuit and portable water for travel, a current Cutteray, spare vehicle fuel and an emergency cache at home. The plan succeeds by returning with a modest load repeatedly.
After Trial Four, a practical combat bar is Shigawire Claw, Sentinel and Shield Wall. Swap a tool only after reading its type and testing the replacement; learned skills are not all active at once.
Preview this plan from the beginning to the endgame · 8 stages
Take the Trooper start if still creating the character. Learn Shigawire Claw before scattering points across several weapon branches.
Practise aiming the traversal tool from safe ground; it is an escape option, not permission to cross unlimited sand.
Unlock Planetologist and inspect Cutteray Mining first. Add gathering utility only after your basic gun/health setup wins local fights.
Bank components from Station 2 for the instead of spending them all on optional gear.
Keep the mobility and defensive tools already chosen, then spend Planetologist points around one recurring trip. For a mining circuit, prioritize Cutteray Mining and enough vehicle efficiency or repair support to finish the return. For a water circuit, compare Dew Gathering and stillsuit support instead. Carry fuel, repair supplies, a drinking reserve, and free cargo capacity before filling the hold with sale goods. Run the same route twice and note whether the limit is harvesting, travel, cargo, or survival. Buy the next improvement against that limit. If combat repeatedly ends the trip, postpone another yield upgrade and use the safer route or a defensive skill slot.
After the slot unlock, use movement plus a combat aid and a defensive tool. Until Mentat is trained, keep a known Trooper option in the spare slot.
Do not leave the third slot empty after claiming Prescience.
Create separate raw-input, finished-output and emergency stores. Validate one batch before connecting the whole workshop.
Use water and power as explicit production inputs, not invisible background systems.
Unlock Sentinel/Shield Wall as points permit and test their placement from cover.
Keep the Planetologist and core mobility investments; do not buy every newly unlocked damage talent.
Prioritize Scout construction and a protected landing/garage over an oversized second base.
Inspect Planetologist fuel-efficiency and surveying options once flight dominates travel.
Measure fiber and water demand before increasing Titanium haul size.
Upgrade refinery efficiency when the expected volume repays the expensive station; retain a replacement Scout reserve.
Start with Gathering or Exploration according to what stops your trips; add Crafting toward augmentation.
Keep Combat moving if station clears, rather than mining, have become the bottleneck.
Your completion route: Readiness means a protected home, reliable water and power, replaceable transport, Tier 6 production, completed story objectives, and a repeatable endgame loop; it is not a promise that every achievement has unlocked.
Changing your plan keeps your saved achievements, quest choices and checklists. Required respecs, unlocks and later equipment are explained at their route steps.

Create your character and choose your first school
Starting mentor changes your opening, not your final classCompare settings and their effects
Trooper: movement and guns
Recommended for the expedition plan: early Shigawire Claw offers a useful movement tool. Other schools remain trainable; Planetologist is learned after arriving.
Mentat: prepared ranged fights
Start toward Sentinel and ranged control. Later Trooper training supplies mobility; no trainer achievement is lost.
Swordmaster: close combat
Start toward Knee Charge and blade/stamina improvements. Learn ranged fallbacks and mobility later; the first mentor is not a permanent single-class restriction.
Bene Gesserit: movement and control
Start toward Bindu mobility and Voice tools, then add Swordmaster fundamentals. This plan needs deliberate stamina management.
SUGGESTED PLAN · Expedition engineer — Trooper + Planetologist
Open with mobility
Take the Trooper start if still creating the character. Learn Shigawire Claw before scattering points across several weapon branches.
Practise aiming the traversal tool from safe ground; it is an escape option, not permission to cross unlimited sand.
Use these choices when the required level, resource or unlock is available. Opening this section does not change your character.
1. Set your appearance and background, then choose Trooper, Mentat, Swordmaster or Bene Gesserit as the starting mentor. Planetologist is acquired on Arrakis. Select the school matching your intended first fights; you can train the other schools later.
2. For a travel-focused opening, this guide recommends Trooper and an early Shigawire Claw investment. For a rifle plan, begin Mentat; for blade combat, choose Swordmaster or Bene Gesserit. These are opening preferences, not a claim that one background is mathematically best.
3. Spend your first points on one useful active tool and its immediate supporting talent. Do not divide early points across five schools: unlocking a tree does not provide the points to fill it. Inspect whether each selection is an ability, a slotted technique, or a passive.
PLAY & BUILD COACHING
Plan changes
Official Chapter 3 rules allow skill reattribution in a watersealed base or social hub. The Spice Melange cost starts at 0, rises through 5, 10, 20 and 50 with repeated resets, and falls one tier every six hours. Read the displayed price; do not assume every reset costs Spice or follow an obsolete fixed-cooldown guide.
Checkpoint· Ready to land
You have a first-school plan and understand that learning secondary schools is part of the route.

IN CAMPAIGN ORDER
Finish the introduction and move between rock shelters
1. Follow the introduction’s interaction and crafting prompts until you enter South Hagga Basin. Read the active Journey and track its current objective. Loot small containers you pass, but leave open sand immediately when a safe rock route is available.
Help reading the first Journey objective
Where to look: Begin with the introduction’s current interaction and crafting prompts. Once in South Hagga Basin, identify shade and solid rock before planning the next movement.
What to do: Finish the introduction, then follow the active Journey in short legs between shelters. Collect its requested materials and equip the first usable tool and weapon.
What should happen: You reach each stop with an identified return route and can check supplies from rock rather than standing exposed on sand.
If it does not work: If heat and water pressure rise during a detour, return to shade and reassess the route. Break a long exposed crossing into shorter moves between safe terrain instead of stopping in the open to sort loot.
2. Look for the next shaded rock before moving. Heat exposure increases your water problem; shade is a resource. Cross sand in purposeful legs, then stop on solid rock to check the map or inventory. Prolonged noisy activity on open sand attracts danger.
3. Gather the locally requested plant fiber, scrap and stone, equip your first blade/tool, and fight one isolated scavenger from cover. Learn a dodge, a block/parry and the enemy’s recovery window before attacking groups.
gear
First carry kit
Keep a weapon, a gathering tool, healing and any available water. Bank surplus once the first base is ready; a full backpack is not a reason to cross a longer stretch of sand.
Checkpoint· Introduction cleared
Welcome to Arrakis follows the introduction. You can identify shade, hard rock and an escape route before a fight.
Set controls as the tutorial introduces them
4. In Settings, inspect the current bindings for interaction, inventory, research, skills, map, climbing, dodge and quick slots. Put water and healing on reachable slots. Start with guided progression if offered; follow its Journey prompts to reveal research dependencies instead of spending Intel indiscriminately.

Coverage, version notes and sources
No claim of 100% Steam attainability in every single-player/custom-rule configuration: Trader explicitly asks for another player, and a single-player substitute was not verified. All achievement names are included, but unlock triggers and tracking were not tested in a live save.
The Lisan al-Gaib vision choice is flagged before travel. Its current repeatability and exact trigger are unverified; do not rely on replaying it after accepting the offer.
Book One Part III has a researched objective-level route. Complete room-by-room collectible positions, every dialogue branch, every named boss moveset, and all faction or advanced trainer subquests are outside this guide. Quest cards resolve intermediate steps that are explicitly marked.
Trial and many trainer directions draw on 2025-2026 walkthroughs, checked against current systems where possible; they were not reproduced in-game. The last Trial ring puzzle is linked to a pictured solution rather than an invented rotation count.
No static coordinates are supplied for changing Deep Desert content. On multiplayer, verify the current Coriolis countdown, instance and weekly discoveries. Single-player has different persistence.
Lost Harvest has a compact optional route, with older interior walkthrough evidence and current Journey checks. Treadwheel achievement inclusion, private-server tuning, future Polar Cap content and unreleased test-client changes are excluded. Vehicle Master has a current broad Steam condition but its six-vehicle breakdown uses older extracted data.
Exact prices, research prerequisites, consumable costs and progression limits can change. Inspect the current recipe and quest card before spending; specific manufacturing quantities below cite the reviewed data.
