Choose an expedition combat planSuggested plan: Maelle: safe stance bridge into Burn and Mark pressure
Find a style that fits your priorities
Choose a party engine and a progression into it, rather than expecting every character and late weapon in the opening. Skills, equipment and Lumina can change; Recoats are needed for attribute or skill-tree resets, and each character still needs a usable independent kit.
Reorder the comparison without changing your game settings or story preferences.
Focused damage with an optional fragile ceiling
Maelle: safe stance bridge into Burn and Mark pressure
Let teammates establish Burn or Mark, then use Maelles stance tools to turn that preparation into a decisive attack. The early version works with ordinary learned skills; Medalum and later multi-hit equipment improve the engine. Keep defensive room while learning timing, and reserve the one-Health Last Chance variant for fights whose follow-up you can reliably survive.
Learning curveModerate
The safe bridge is readable, but stance entry, status duration and AP budgeting matter; Last Chance increases execution risk.
Choose this when you wantA clear damage plan with useful early skills · Building one attacker while teammates prepare targets · Optional late multi-hit Burn and Mark combinations
Reconsider if: You want to ignore stance transitions; You dislike the optional one-Health risk and late equipment investment.
What you actually do
A practical rhythm, from preparation to payoff.
1
Prepare the attack
Apply only the status the next skill benefits from, check Maelles stance and AP, and avoid spending a full setup cycle on an enemy already near defeat.
2
Choose the safety margin
Use the ordinary stance route while timing is uncertain; select Last Chance only when you have an actual plan for the enemy action that may follow.
Illustrative play example
An illustrative prepared strike
Imagine a durable enemy survives ordinary attacks and your party can act safely. A teammate supplies Burn, Maelle uses the stance entry she actually has, and the party follows with the skill whose status benefit is relevant. Later, Burning Canvas can build on that preparation and Gustaves Homage can exploit a maintained Mark. If the enemy is about to attack and timing remains uncertain, keep Health instead of forcing Last Chance. This is an illustrative sequence, not a recorded damage result.
FROM A REALISTIC START TO THE PAYOFF
Your progression path
Read in order. Each stage explains what makes the next step practical.
1Opening
Burn, Swift Stride and a usable follow-up
Keep a learned Burn source and enter Virtuose through the available stance route before using an appropriate finisher such as Percee. Let the party cover Mark and recovery. Spend on weapon upgrades and survival before copying a late passive list that cannot yet fit.
2First payoff
Earn Medalum without assuming it is free
If pursuing the early tournament reward, route the relevant Maelle participation deliberately rather than treating the weapon as automatic story loot. Upgrade what you actually own, inspect its scaling and retain a fallback weapon if that optional detour or challenge is unwelcome.
3Optional ceiling
A legal six-skill deck and earned passives
A late example is Swift Stride, Last Chance, Fleuret Fury, Breaking Rules, Burning Canvas and Gustaves Homage. Replace a named slot for Stendhal or another experiment; Gommage belongs to the separate Gradient system. Equip only current-cost Lumina you own and can afford.

Strengths, tradeoffs & requirements
Strengths
An early bridge exists before rare equipment
Status preparation gives teammates meaningful jobs
Can retain a safe campaign kit before attempting fragile burst
Tradeoffs
Status setup consumes team actions and AP
Last Chance leaves the attacker at 1 Health
Late passive combinations cost equipment slots, Lumina capacity and exploration time
Plan around these requirements
Maelles actual learned skills and stance access
A party member or native skill providing Burn and Mark
Weapon upgrades with attributes matching current scaling
Optional late Pictos/Lumina and Last Chance; neither belongs in the opening
Party
The supporting roles that make this style work.
Maelle
Convert stance and prepared status into focused damage.
Burn and Mark partner
Prepare the target without consuming Maelles entire damage turn.
Lune or another recovery answer
Provide a usable rescue plan while learning or after a risky setup.
Break or turn support
Create a safer attack window; do not assume every boss can be controlled indefinitely.
CARRIED INTO YOUR WALKTHROUGH
What to prioritize
Explain stance entry before prescribing the late attack deck
Flag the optional tournament weapon and a usable fallback
Keep one-Health burst, late passives and Gradient attacks in their correct progression categories
Can you change your mind? Change equipped skills, weapon and Lumina between attempts; spend a Recoat only when attribute or skill-tree reallocation is necessary. Keep weapon scaling and party status coverage compatible. The two old Maelle cards are merged into one early-to-late progression, with fragile burst clearly optional.
Specialist recommendation
Skill behavior is referenced, while the staged party routine is synthesis. Old exact passive totals are not reproduced without a refreshed cost check; no patch-independent maximum damage claim is made.

Reviewed plans and corrections
Advanced hybrid — Maelle Burn, Mark and multi-hit burst · Retained. Finite AP and post-nerf Burn/stance setup, weapon scaling and support remain coherent; does not require launch Stendhal or all-damage Medalum.
Lune elemental engine · Retained. Stain/element/recovery rotation is valid. Thermal Transfer consumes Stains; text excludes the patched free-extra-turn loop and describes Cleim fix narrowly.
Advanced hybrid — Verso Free Aim and Follow Up · Retained. Healing-compatible bridges precede optional Chevalam; finite shots, ten-shot cap and AP/rank gates are explicit.
Sciel and Monoco tactical party · Retained. Foretell/support and learned Monoco skills respect recruitment, six ordinary skill slots and finite actions.
Advanced — Maelle Burn and Mark with Lune/Sciel support · Retained. Licorum Burn/Mark package and 75 paid-Lumina core respect three physical Pictos, later rewards and unique equipment sharing.
Advanced — Verso Free Aim and Follow Up with turn support · Retained. 59 paid-Lumina core (39 without Trigger-happy) is finite. Refund is 20%; Mark AP once per turn; Energy Master +1; Chevalam blocks healing/shields. No infinite-AP guarantee.
Outdated or unsupported advice excluded
Launch Stendhal/Medalum damage assumptions and infinite Free Aim/AP claims are excluded.
The Second Chance/Healing Boon/Protecting Death immortality combination was fixed in 1.4.0.

Exact late-game damage rankings depend on party level, attributes and equipment assumptions.
Every optional traversal detail, hidden flag and alternative encounter method has not been reproduced in a current save.
No newer patch among these 30 official announcements; not an installed build check. Patch notes do not describe every hidden flag or all expansion enemy patterns.
Many hidden conditions are omitted by the public page; name matching alone does not verify their guide methods.
Xbox Wire: free Thank You update — Free Thank You update, Verso Drafts, endgame tower enemies, rewards and quality-of-life additions.
Does not establish all four encounters, detailed phases, exact items or achievement flags.
PowerPyx: achievement roadmap and mechanics — Base achievement conditions; camp record window; truth branch; diving rank 6; original tower 33 trials; five games with first two raft difficulties sufficient; original Simon phase removal can be bypassed with damage; final-save return; common combat and upgrade conditions.
Older page: its prologue-only Old Key warning is superseded by 1.5.0. The 56 count includes PlayStation platinum, not Steam. Its Clea heal description is corrected by S29. Skill-count statements and Dark Cleansing example are internally unreliable; exact Monoco grid and in-game consuming skill wording take precedence. No assurance of current save rotation count, difficulty health modifiers, exploit routes or universal build performance.
PowerPyx: illustrated journal inventory — 49-journal roster; named journals, area/flag locations, Survivor gate, family frame, Simon journal and Lune quest journal.
Old Key missability warning is obsolete after 1.5.0; screenshots and every route step were not visually verified. A comment about a pickup/death glitch is unconfirmed and not imported.
PowerPyx: illustrated music record inventory — Record roster, two Lumiere pickup locations, Lettre a Maelle after first Axon and before end of Act II, companion rank-6 records, original tower and final-ending rewards.
Duplicate-pickup achievement-count glitch is historical reporting and not a guaranteed substitute for the intended complete collection.
Intro says 44 acquired skills while grid includes the two starting skills. Not proof of learning while dead, reserve participation, updated enemy variants or all weapon synergies.
PowerPyx: ten white Nevron quests — Jar resin/staff, Demineur mine, Bourgeon return, Hexga crystals, Troubadour notes, Portier boards, Benisseur 90,000 total, Danseuse retry, Chalier killing exception and Blanche mercy reward.
Text says both majority and all spared in different paragraphs. Partial-kill thresholds are not established. The refusal aftermath requires S73; this older page does not document it correctly.
No visual verification of the exact late pickup relative to the staircase/crates.
Gameranx: Sciel and Lune romance choices — Sciel second-night lock after second Axon even when first declined; Lune parents/Sirene Dress and rank-7 song; platonic bonds still reach seven.
Dialogue sequence is supported; not every alternate flirt flag or end-credit romance variation was replayed.
Ludo: relationship ranks and quest prerequisites — Verso joins after Act I; bonds after Forgotten Battlefield; Esquie rank-6 Francois/Urrie gives diving and rank 7 gives Angels Eyes; Lune quest/rank rewards.
Retrieved body truncates Maelle table after rank 2. It does not corroborate full Monoco progression or later Maelle branches.
Gameranx: Flying Manor and Clea — Flying Manor guardians, Void weakness/physical resistance, full-parry counter required to stop healing, Creepy Nevrons club feint, Cleas Life, Medalum tournament/Golgra alternative.
Source says three guardians but lists four; guide correctly uses four. One-shot recommendations and old Stendhal/buff assumptions are not adopted. No frame-by-frame gameplay replay.
Gameranx: ending selection and rewards — Final Renoir followed by choosing Maelle or Verso for duel; both give Our Drafts Collide and The End; ending-specific outfit mention.
Does not independently support every narrative interpretation about coercion, acceptance, restored people or canon.
Game8: Duollistes phase changes — Optional tower Duollistes, two phases, Duollison reward, second phase attacks after each character turn and bypasses Cheater/extra-turn order.
Did not read or certify every suggested one-shot build, full moveset, reward scaling or unlock prerequisites.

Its all-enemies Earth-weak generalization is not adopted. It conflicts with S39 on whether Frappe counters must be consecutive; guide does not assert a number/consecutiveness. Exact prices and all boss frame timings unverified.
Games.gg: Drafts puzzles and maps — Toy Boat quest below diving rings with two Licornes; Najabla duel unlocks Bonbim; treehouse Sucreso; Frappe and Machinapieds context.
Not read as a complete walkthrough. Frappe consecutive-counter wording conflicts with S38. Reward tables were not treated as exhaustive.
Game8: Osquio mechanics and rewards — No elemental weakness, Root of All Evil/train entry, two health phases, Barbapapa, Drop Kick Gradient counter and mandatory final orb counter; Esquiso, Perfect Catalyst and Verso appearance rewards.
Spin Spin timing/animation footage and post-victory merchant inventory were not read. One-shot build advice not endorsed.
Game8: NG+ Baguette and retained festival tokens — Retained Festival Tokens spent at opening NG+ bakery after Sophie; change controlled character; five weapon variants and multi-cycle requirement.

Advanced progression
Advanced hybrid — Maelle Burn, Mark and multi-hit burst
Grow the dependable Maelle/Lune opening into a Sciel-supported multi-hit plan. supports the campaign's Burn engine; the free Thank You update's later makes a strong alternative for Gustave's Homage and Burning Canvas. This follows documented advanced builds while retaining recovery and a manageable Lumina budget instead of requiring a showcase's hundreds of points.
Start with this setup
Early recommendation: keep a Vitality margin, then invest toward the equipped weapon's scaling. favors Agility/Defense; changes the offensive investment toward Luck/Agility. Use a Recoat when adopting that weapon, and stop buying critical chance once the character's actual battle conditions already reach 100%.
A late six-skill card is Swift Stride, Last Chance, Fleuret Fury, Breaking Rules, Burning Canvas and Gustave's Homage. This is exactly six skills. Gommage is a Gradient attack and uses the shared Gradient gauge; it is not a seventh ordinary skill. Substitute Stendhal or Phantom Strike for a named slot when a single Void hit or area attack is more useful.
Burning Canvas costs 5 AP, deals five Void hits and applies Burn; it gains damage from Burn already on the target. Gustave's Homage costs 8 AP, delivers eight Lightning hits, benefits from Mark and does not remove it. Choose according to enemy affinity and setup rather than calling both attacks fire damage.
The finished low-complexity carrier uses three equipped Pictos: , and . Paid Lumina: 5 + Rewarding Mark 5 + 30 + Frenzy 20 + Double Third 10 + Critical Burn 5 = 75 points. This is a core, not every possible damage modifier. The Pictos' effects are already active, so do not pay again for their same-named Lumina.
Master each Picto through four victories before sharing its Lumina. The physical Picto remains unique equipment; Sciel cannot wear Maelle's simultaneously and must pay its 40-point Lumina cost or use a slower sequence. Each character has their own budget.
Default partners are Lune for Burn/recovery and Sciel for Mark, Fortune's Fury and Intervention. Keep Lune's Healing Light/Rebirth and a non-fire damage option. Sciel's six-skill example is Focused Foretell, Twilight Slash, Marking Card, Fortune's Fury, Intervention and Grim Harvest.
The safe route uses Swift Stride to enter Virtuose against a burning enemy. Last Chance is an optional low-health burst tool: it fills AP and enters Virtuose but reduces Maelle to 1 HP. makes its AP cost zero, not its action or health cost. Use or a properly timed Intervention to follow it, and do not promise survival if an enemy acts between setup and damage.
The original forgiving opening allocation remains a reasonable starting point: 2 Vitality / 1 Agility per level until the current weapon and survival needs suggest otherwise. Follow connecting skill-tree prerequisites, master a Picto through four victories, and value weapon passive thresholds at 4/10/20 before spreading catalysts across experiments.
Preview this plan from the beginning to the endgame · 13 stages
Gustave supplies Mark and Overcharge; Lune learns Immolation, Ice Lance and Healing Light. When Maelle joins, prioritize the Swift Stride and Percée paths before expensive finishers. Lune burns, Maelle enters Virtuose, and Gustave marks the intended target.
Train the early Burn/AP Pictos while exploring. Use equipped defensive stats if a missed dodge is killing the party; the later damage package is not an opening loadout.
Preserve the existing friendly-Nevron choices. Neither build needs you to kill a helpful quest NPC for a few extra Colours of Lumina.
Choose Maelle for the final arena duel to earn early, then upgrade through its useful passive thresholds. If another character already won, continue with the best upgraded weapon and Swift Stride; the run is still viable, and Medalum has a later Golgra route.
's current Burn benefits do not double all damage. The old Stendhal/Medalum launch interaction is excluded from this plan.
After Sciel joins, develop Foretell and a consumer before investing in the later Fortune's Fury/Intervention support package. Keep Lune's healing while these paths are incomplete.
Spend the initial Virtuose stance on an appropriate target instead of shield removal; retain Swift Stride to enter it again. Sciel's opening Focused Foretell/Twilight Slash pair remains useful while the later support paths are unfinished.
Secure Gustave's fully charged Overcharge Break before the Act I finale. Improving Maelle's damage must not remove his last meaningful opportunity to perform it.
Give First Strike to the support who must apply Burn or Mark before Maelle, rather than automatically equipping it on the finisher.
Use Fleuret Fury as a practical Break-capable skill that can retain Virtuose. Keep a cheap option for shield removal so the expensive attack is not wasted on protection.
Keep Auto Shell and affordable AP-start effects when they prevent deaths. Upgrade Lune's weapon alongside the finisher, and retain an affordable fire spell even if Deminerim supplies a lightning-focused weapon.
For unfamiliar fights, Maelle + Lune + Sciel is a straightforward group: finisher, recovery/elements, Foretell and later turn support.
Use Monoco instead of Sciel when Potier Energy and his learned healing/Break skills solve your immediate problem. Bring him on enemy-learning detours.
Begin unlocking Sciel’s Fortune’s Fury and Intervention paths. Her support should act early enough that the buff reaches the intended Maelle turn.
Collect in the cave off the angry-face area: follow the branch opposite the Manor doorway, among the enemies. Master it and either equip the Picto or budget 30 Lumina points.
plus the Burn tools can now feed the eventual Canvas route, but do not strip every AP or defensive effect to pay for it.
Keep a Break-capable action available: filling the Break gauge does not itself stun an enemy. Preserve Lune's other elements for Sirene and any target that resists the party's fire damage.
After winning, master and put its 5-point Lumina on each damage dealer. Work through the skill-tree paths toward Burning Canvas and Gustave's Homage; use the functioning earlier skills until the necessary points exist.
Keep exactly six selected ordinary skills. Canvas offers Void damage when fire itself is resisted, while Homage is the marked-target Lightning alternative.
Sciel should buff the intended attacker with Fortune's Fury before that attacker's valuable turn. Intervention can supply AP and an immediate action; inspect turn order rather than assuming Speed alone produces the same sequence every fight.
Defeat Sprong for , master it, and equip its Picto on Maelle if conserving Lumina points. Two actions enable stance setup then a finisher; they do not make both actions free.
Until is earned, use the available AP-start effects, Rewarding Mark and support actions. Keep Lune's heal/revive online and use Sciel's turn for recovery when the burst is unsafe.
Finish Maelle's Reacher relationship route for Gommage without changing the ending choice. Its shared Gradient cost competes with every other character's Gradient attacks.
The original Energising Turn and affordable AP-start package remains a useful bridge. Monoco can replace Sciel for Potier Energy and learned Break/healing support; do not spend the whole Lumina budget on if it leaves every action unfunded.
Serpenphare rewards . Every AP gain increases by one; it does not double all AP and does not remove skill costs. Rewarding Mark's ordinary +2 becomes +3, still only once per turn.
Equip // physically for the listed template. Sciel and Lune share mastered effects only by paying their own Lumina costs.
Use the existing shield-aware boss instructions. Barrier Breaker is a situational weapon alternative when surviving and removing shields is more valuable than a larger theoretical finisher.
Upgrade the reserve pair and share mastered recovery/AP Lumina. For Simon, begin with a capable Verso/Lune/Monoco trio and preserve Maelle/Sciel as one practical reserve plan.
Use Clea’s Life or Second Chance where their conditions help; remove effects whose healing behaviour conflicts with Inverted Affinity.
Maximise an established weapon before spreading Perfect Catalysts over experiments. High level alone does not fix missing AP or an incompatible element.
Defeat Chromatic Licorne in Verso's Drafts for . At levels 4/10/20 it increases successive skill-hit damage, applies Mark on the first skill hit, and prevents later hits in the skill from consuming Mark. Upgrade to the relevant thresholds before assessing the combination.
Respec toward 's Luck/Agility scaling while preserving a survivable HP pool. Against a suitable target, Gustave's Homage exploits multiple hits and Mark without needing a random shot to establish the mark first.
Keep or the established weapon as a working fallback. You must beat Chromatic Licorne with equipment you already own; is not a prerequisite for earning itself.
, Barrier Breaker and the update's Esqium remain alternatives at this route stop. is the advanced multi-hit default here; change only after earning and upgrading the selected weapon, then rebuild its actual scaling and passive plan.
Buy from Najabla near the Reverie Path flag for 217,000 Chroma. It costs 30 Lumina points when not physically equipped; Canvas becomes 4 AP and Homage 7 AP.
The 75-point finished template includes this cost. Before Frenzy is obtained, leave those 20 points for survival or AP support rather than inventing an unavailable effect.
Do not equip Gradient Overcharge by default: its automatic consumption competes with the route's intended Gommage or defensive Gradient use.
Complete the three-cake-piece route, open the door, then defeat Licornapieds near its station for Frenzy. Double Third comes from the enemy group downhill from Open Playground. Their paid Lumina costs are 20 and 10 respectively.
Use the saved 75-point core and six-skill card. Apply support, enter Virtuose, then select Canvas for the accumulated Burn target or Homage for a favorable Lightning/Mark target.
Feint/Barbapapa cleansing and showcase death stacks are deliberately optional research, not prerequisites. The route remains usable without reproducing a billion-damage demonstration.
Use the main guide's encounter-specific reserve and phase instructions; high damage does not erase scripted party removal, counters or immunity windows. Keep the working Lune/Monoco/Verso equipment available.
Against standard Simon, do not put every indispensable role in the first party before his forced wipe. Against the new tower variant, follow its distinct phase rules rather than copying the ordinary Simon script.
None of this equipment requires choosing a particular ending or Sciel romance. Preserve collection and ending saves as already routed.
Your completion route: Protect the prologue Mime, Gustave’s Act I opportunity and camp record windows; finish companion bonds, optional bosses and the selected ending, then audit 55 Steam achievements, journals and 33 required records. Thank You update challenges are included; NG+ remains optional for the achievement set.

There is no custom class. Choose a party plan; the route teaches each character as they join. The default is a forgiving Maelle-led team with real support roles.
Expert is the highest standard difficulty. Achievement completion does not require it. Optional challenge modifiers go beyond Expert; these recommendations are researched, not a promise of victory at every modifier setting.
The free Thank You update adds Verso’s Drafts and four additional Endless Tower challenges. It adds no separate Steam achievements to the 55-name checklist. Paid cosmetic editions are not needed.
Release evidence checked 10 October 2026. Full official Steam patch notes identify PC 1.5.6, released 30 June 2026, and no newer numbered patch appears in the latest 30 official announcements reviewed. This is source verification, not an installed-client inspection.
The free Thank You content supplies the final /Frenzy//Trigger-happy options; neither plan requires paid DLC or changes an ending/romance choice.
Patch 1.5.6 fixed Cleim's level-10 area-effect triggering and a Burn/Stun interaction. No older Cleim malfunction, Burn-only Thermal Transfer extra-turn loop or launch /Stendhal multiplier is used.
The official 1.5.6 body was read through Steam's news API. It fixes Cleim's level-10 area-effect triggering and a Burn/Stun timing interaction; it does not explicitly name an infinite-turn exploit. The official patch text supports these details directly.

A Peculiar Encounter
Defeat the optional Mime while exploring prologue Lumière with Sophie, before leaving for the docks. Later Mimes do not count.
Overcharge
As Gustave, use Overcharge at 10 charge and actually Break the target. Do this in the prologue or before the end of Act I.
Time to Spill Some Ink
Fill an enemy’s Break gauge, then use a skill whose description says it can Break. Overcharge on the prologue Mime is an early opportunity.
Lumière
Complete the prologue and embark on the expedition.
Perfect Flow
With Lune, consume Stains on four consecutive turns of her own. Use a durable enemy, check the highlighted consumption on each selected skill, and do not insert an ordinary attack or item turn between the four.

Spring Meadows
Defeat Eveque and complete Spring Meadows.
Flying Waters
Defeat Goblu and finish the Flying Waters story section.
Synergy
Use Maelle’s Percée on a Marked enemy while she is in Virtuose Stance. Apply the Mark after any attack that would consume it.

Ancient Sanctuary
Defeat Ultimate Sakapatate and complete the Sanctuary route.

Defeat Dualliste and complete the battlefield story.
Monoco's Station
Complete the station’s recruitment and story encounters.
Expedition 33
Unlock all playable characters; Monoco is the final story recruit.

Old Lumière
Defeat the Act II Renoir encounter and complete Old Lumière.
Expeditioner
Reach character level 33. Side-area order changes the exact timing; no particular story choice is required.
First Axon
Defeat either Visages or Sirene. This route uses Visages first.
Second Axon

À On
Defeat Serpenphare, the flying serpent near White Sands. Flight is required to engage it.
Noir et Blanc
Complete the Painting Workshop route and defeat its boss.
Carreau Parfait
Defeat the Chromatic Pétank; ordinary Pétanks do not satisfy this target.
Aiding the Enemy
Complete the white Nevron requests and Blanche’s final interaction. Use the mercy route throughout, with Chalier’s documented exception, for the strongest reward and the cleanest completion path.
Lost Gestrals
Find all nine Lost Gestrals and complete the returns to Sastro at camp.
Gestral Games
Win all five distinct beach activities. The highest Raft Volley reward is optional for the achievement.
Trailbreaker
Reach character level 66.
Survivor
Reach character level 99.
Peace At Last

Follow The Trail
Collect every required expedition journal, including family/special entries and the one beyond Simon. Compare actual inventory against the complete illustrated list.
Connoisseur
Collect all 33 required music records. Lettre à Maelle is the crucial Act II camp missable; both Lumière pickups represent the same title.

Preserve Lune’s romance
Decline Sciel’s commitment, then complete Lune’s parents’ quest and accept the later song invitation. This opens Lune’s intimate scene without changing the ending selection.
Keep both relationships as friendship

Tell the truth
The documented completion path reaches rank 7, the Maelle achievement and Gommage. Maelle receives the full explanation rather than Verso continuing the concealment.
Lie to Maelle
The concealment continues in that conversation. This does not secure the documented rank-7 achievement and Gommage payoff; choose it only if that story outcome matters more, or retain a recoverable earlier branch.

Refusal does not keep Chalier alive: after leaving and returning, you find that it took its own life. The follow-up reward remains at the body in the documented route.

Prologue
IN CAMPAIGN ORDER
Start as Gustave in Lumière
1. Select Story, Expeditioner or Expert according to the challenge you want. All 55 Steam achievements can be earned without choosing Expert. Begin a normal new campaign; New Game+ and extreme damage/health modifiers are optional later challenges.
Begin with Gustave in Lumière. The first section explains the Mime detour before the docks; party builds and Pictos come later as their characters and systems arrive.
The game uses autosaves. Before a choice marked here, check the available load entries and their timestamps. Do not assume that hours of later exploration will preserve an old branch forever. Ending replay is separate from starting New Game+.

IN CAMPAIGN ORDER
Lumière with Sophie: fight the Mime before the docks
1. Before the Mime detour, confirm Dodge and Parry in your bindings. Practise watching the impact and dodging first, then try the tighter parry. Gustave’s charge and the enemy’s Break gauge are different meters; inspect both before choosing Overcharge. This is a learning recommendation, not a difficulty setting.
2. Complete the rooftop lesson, meet Sophie and walk through the city. Before agreeing to descend toward the harbour and move the scene forward, continue to the far side by the stage and dancers. Find the Mime on the right and interact to fight it.
3. Its wall drastically reduces damage until you Break it. Use ordinary attacks and the multi-hit skill to build Gustave’s charge. At 10 charge, use Overcharge when the enemy Break bar is ready; a damaging Overcharge that does not actually Break is insufficient.
Help distinguishing charge from Break
Where to look: Begin with the rooftop lesson and meet Sophie. During the city walk, stop before descending toward the harbour; the Mime is by the stage and dancers on the far side.
What to do: Finish the opening lesson, then take the Mime detour. In that duel, build Gustave’s charge while watching the enemy’s Break bar and time the charged Overcharge for an actual Break.
What should happen: The enemy visibly Breaks rather than merely taking a reduced hit. Watch the combat feedback instead of treating a full charge meter as success on its own.
If it does not work: If Overcharge fails to Break, rebuild charge and pay attention to the Break bar before the next attempt. If you lose this prologue duel, retry it before advancing the city scene.
4. Defend patiently while charging. The Mime’s initial gesture is not the hit. Watch the attack finish, then dodge or parry. You can retry the prologue duel after losing, so there is no reason to accept a missed achievement just to avoid another attempt.
gear
Lumière record
Collect the victory reward. A later copy of the record does not replace the achievement for beating this particular Mime.
Checkpoint· Harbour dialogue
Verify the Mime victory and both Break-related awards before accepting the progression confirmation. There are other Mimes later, but they do not satisfy A Peculiar Encounter.
Checkpoint· Opening awards before a future build
Complete this Mime and a genuine 10-charge Overcharge Break before accepting the harbor progression if possible. A later Verso or Maelle loadout cannot recreate this particular prologue battle.
PRACTICAL WALKTHROUGH
Use the harbor confirmation as a three-award check
Keep the harbor progression prompt unanswered until you have inspected the fight result. With Sophie on Main Street, continue to the far end and look right beside the stage’s dancers; interact with the robotic Mime there. Losing permits another attempt, so use a retry to learn its attack timing rather than surrendering the prologue opportunity. Its opening wall suppresses ordinary damage until a Break, making this fight useful for practicing the difference between filling a Break bar and triggering it.
Build Gustave to ten charge with ordinary attacks and his multi-hit action, while keeping enough AP to select Overcharge. Check the enemy’s Break gauge before releasing it, then confirm that the target actually entered Break. After victory, inspect the award notifications for A Peculiar Encounter, Overcharge and the first-Break award, and confirm the Lumière record reward. If the Mime award appeared but Overcharge did not, retain the Act I deadline in your notes and deliberately finish that condition before the act ends. Retrieving the record later cannot repair the missed prologue fight.
Use this only if you are stuck or want to come back later. Otherwise, leave it on “Continue normally” and use “Mark section complete” below when you finish.
Use this while working through the section. This menu changes your guide’s progress reminders, not anything in your game.

Guide diagram. Original choice diagram. The third-token options are alternatives. Update 1.5 provides a later Old Key pickup, so a missed purchase need not end a current save.
1. At the evening festival you begin with one token. Earn the other two by winning the optional Maelle duel and completing Antoine’s quiz near the stalls. His answers are 67 years, Expedition Zero, and the explanation that Lumina are abilities internalised through using Pictos.
Help counting and spending festival tokens
Where to look: At the festival, find Antoine near the stalls and the optional Maelle duel before visiting the token vendors.
What to do: Complete the quiz and duel you want to attempt, then inspect your actual token count before spending. Compare purchases with the plan you have chosen in the guide.
What should happen: The tokens you earned are available and each chosen purchase is in inventory. A planned purchase in the guide does not reserve a token in the game.
If it does not work: If you are missing a token, distinguish the starting token from the two activity rewards and revisit the unfinished activity before boarding. Avoid spending the last token until you have checked your own purchase plan.
2. Recommended first-run purchases are Colette’s Old Key and Tom’s Weird Pictos. The key opens a journal room in Old Lumière; Weird Pictos becomes useful at Gestral Village. Keep the third token if you want an optional Baguette weapon at the start of New Game+. Buying the hairstyle instead uses that token and delays that NG+ purchase. The planner explains both routes.
3. Speak to the people around the festival before boarding. These scenes establish relationships and the cost of the expedition; they do not select a different final ending. Confirm your purchases and any retained token before the send-off.
Checkpoint· Current Old Key correction
Update 1.5 added a later key pickup in Act III Lumière. Missing this token purchase is no longer a reason to restart a long current-version save. The late recovery appears at .
gear
Optional NG+ weapon
Saving one token postpones the hairstyle but enables a Baguette purchase at the next cycle’s opening bakery. Choose deliberately; spending all three is not required for any achievement.
gear
Shared early purchase
Weird Pictos turns into Augmented Aim at Gestral Village, helping the later Free Aim route. Old Key serves the collection route; saving the third token for NG+ is optional. These are festival decisions, not a reason to postpone the current party's skill upgrades.

Showcase Feint/cleansing, automatic death loops and very large Gradient-overcharge stacks are excluded from the default routes. Optional challenge modifiers may need a different defensive or AP setup.
